"This recipe comes from my Aunt. Someone from their church had sent over this dish while I was in visiting my family. We all had a fit over it. Wanted to share and have for my own reference too. NOTE: Can use Splenda in place of sugar"

 1. Is this salad better if you make the night before and let refrigerate, or if you make the day of?

 1. Several points: 1) If you want the noodles to be crisp, why would you ever dress the salad for 24 hours. 2) Why would you need close to 1.25 cups of dressing for 8.5 oz of broccoli slaw? I used nearly 2/3 of the dressing and that was far too much dressing. 3) There was way too much sugar in the dressing. I used cane vinegar which is the harshest flavored vinegar and that still could not offset all of that sugar. 4) 510 calories for a serving? It is way too much oil. This is a poor recipe.

 2. Great! I don't usually like cole slaw, but this was wonderful! I did use cole slaw mix instead of the broccoli and it still turned out really yummy!

 3. Wow! I made this for a dinner party last night. I actually made it the night before last and let it sit in the fridge overnight. EVERYONE loved this! And our most picky guest actually had 4 helpings and then bashfully asked if he could take the left overs home! IT WAS AMAZING!!

 4. Let me start by saying that I've never really found a coleslaw that I like, but I keep trying! This one was really good though. I ran out of normal white vinegar so I had to substitute with rice vinegar, but other than that I followed it exactly.

A couple of things
1) This makes a ton, unless you're making it for a picnic I'd cut it in half
2) The almonds add a bit of sweetness so I think the amount of sugar can probably be reduced a bit
3) It be nice to keep the nuts out until right before you serve it for more crunch

Those are my only real thoughts, thanks for the recipe!

 5. This is an awesome crowd-pleaser. It is very easy to assemble. I try to make a lighter version when I fix it at home by reducing the amount of almonds, seeds, oil, and sugar.

 1. We have been doing a very similar recipe for about 30 years now.. we don't use sunflower seeds, but we do add mandarin oranges at the end and some time to make it even healithier (LOL) we chop up some avacago and toss it in too! We have also come up with a really delicious dressing if you ever want to change it up. Asian-Honey Vinegarette : 1/2 c. avacado oil, 1/4c. honey, 1/4 c. rice vinegar, 2 t. soy sauce and 1/4 t. toasted sesame oil. Try it out, it's AMAZING!!

 2. I add grilled or roast chicken to make a meal. Toast the noodles, almonds and sunflower seed in a iron skillet.

 3. I use brown sugar. It adds some depth to the taste.

 4. I substituted cashews for the almonds, red wine vinegar for the white and brown sugar for the white due to pantry restrictions. It was awesome. So fresh, nutty and sweat!
