Because Tiber Septim gained his power legitimately while Dagoth Ur gained his power illegitimately.

Tiber Septim literally had the king he served as a general assassinated so he could be crowned emperor instead

The only reason Septim got Numidium is that the Tribunal was weakened by being cut off from the Heart BY DAGOTH UR ffs.
Actually, Dagoth attacked them and drove them away right around when Hjalti Early-Beard was apotheosizing at the Battle of Old Hroldan. Considering a Heart of Lorkhan/Shezar/Shezarrine connection, it's not too outlandish to believe that Dagoth's first moments with the Heart actually *created* Septim in the first place.
I've never seen any people forwarding that theory, but the circ*mstancial evidence is pretty strong imo.- Anonymous

Dagoth Ur awakens in 882. Timeline wise this would be 30 years after Tiber's first conquests, and 14 years before he crushed the AD with Numidium.
From what we know of how tiber's conquests progressed
>852 skyrim >854 cyrodiil >high rock >864 hammerfell > black marsh > morrowind > 896 aldmeri dominion
the implication is that 882 is the date Tiber invaded Morrowind- Anonymous

Taking your sources as the gospel truth (unwise in TES btw), Dagoth awakens and seizes the heart in the same year (same month? same day?) that Tiber Septim comes knocking? After how many years since ~1E700?
that's pretty fricking convenient. Clearly these are dots in need of connecting, and I doubt ESO or wherever some of these dates come from gave a sh*t about them.- Anonymous

That's kind of the point i was going after.
Ask yourself the question what exactly is the prime motive of Dagoth Ur? What event would be important enough for him to awaken him from the grave in 882 after millenia of death? What exactly was going on in Tamriel around the year 882? What was happening with the Tribunal around the year 882?

Did he want to conquer tamriel? I though he just wanted to boot non dunmer/chimer out of morrowind and then spread his blight around nirn

Pretty sure it says in his dialoge at the end he wanted to use akulakhan to destroy the empire and control Tamriel. I can't remember the exact quote

Dagoth Ur called the Tribunal constantly in Morrowind. I agree with your sentiment but to be honest the Tribunal are traitorous b***hes and Dagoth Ur is at least loyal to you, the player in a sense

isn't it well known that there was a scrapped route where you join him? because yeah this homie is at worse a tragic hero since he wants to get rid of the tribunal that killed both of you

His intentions are good and he's a bro but he's also fricking insane. His idea of freeing the dunmer is turning them into abominations.

He turned people into zombies and spread plague everywhere, whereas Tiber Septum just won fights.
And my headcanon is that he helps the Nerevarine reach divinity through violence so the player can go stomp the Tribunal for what they've done. - Anonymous

as other anons have said, history is written by the victors. meditate on that.
that being said, the average dark elf, khajiit, and high elf DO NOT think highly of Tiber Septim and his Numidium. He is only considered a beloved hero by the human races.
Also, I always got the impression that Dagoth Ur was dangerously delusional. Being a half dead revenge-obsessed dream entity, his motives and goals are pretty incompatible with most mortals, even the dark elf nationalists don't see him as their champion.
Yea he's copying Numidium with his Akulakhan, but hes also dumping lethal doses of blight on everyone turning everyone into wormhead slave zombies like hes some kind of Resident Evil AntagonistI always liked Dagoth Ur and I think he is a tragic and betrayed figure. I love that he held the torch all htese yeas for his friend Nerevar, but in the end he had to be put down like a demented old guar.
