Do you guys think that elves and beast races will look wildly different again in Skyrim 2? By now they can't keep wildly changing their appearance based on technology that they're using, there should be a consistent appearance for
Who the frick am I kidding Bethesda doesn't give a sh*t about consistency

about the ESO approach to just make them look as humanoid as possible for mass appeal garbage. cats and lizards will probably be hyper realistic as well.

They'll probably keep the trend of them just being humans with weird heads and skin. In fact, I'm pretty sure the only game that that isn't the case is Morrowind (although it's also my favorite version of them). Would be nice if they did cut loose and give Argonians and Khajit the options for different body types though, even if it came with equipment caveats like it did in Morrowind.

Fair. I admit I skipped Oblivion, and technically I really started with Skyrim because the only way I could play Morrowind back in the day was by hanging out with my friend across the street who had an Xbox.
My biggest gripes with Skyrim's look are probably the weapons and armor. Mostly the exotic stuff like Glass and Daedric which are just a little too reserved to be WoW tier but also too dumb to look practical.
Random armor aesthetic mulling:
>light leather armor protects basically nothing but looks fine as a kind of Barbarian larp and fits the setting (except it being cold as frick, but Nords so w/e)
>the actual leather chest looks breddy gud
>scale armor is pretty cool but the continued refusal to protect the arms is odd and the dinky little horns on the helmet look tacked on and ugly
>iron gear looks good
>steel gear looks kinda goofy; again the refusal to protect the arms. Sorta looks like a mutant iron set
>steel plate looks good, probably the best 'native' set to Skyrim but you need the light armor smithing perks for it, what the frick
>elf gear looks fine I guess. I don't like the helmet
>glass armor is a travesty
>orcish armor is very good imo
>ebony looks breddy gud all around
>dwemer stuff looks mostly fine
>daedric looks like hot ass
As a general rule I wish Bethesda would reign in their proportions a bit with weapons and armor. The weapons especially start looking goofy as frick past Steel tier (although Ebony stuff is nice) and even before then most weapons are just too fricking big.- Anonymous

I have played some of Morrowind and yeah, the aesthetics for the setting really click just right; most any complaint I have with the looks could be addressed by slightly reworked player models and some shaving down/reorienting of various pauldrons but even then they don't badly clash with the aesthetic the same way stuff like Skyrim's glass does. One of the benefits of making your gameworld weird as sh*t to start with I guess.
Although my favorite set in the game is probably Chitin (shame Bethesda gruggified it porting it over to Skyrim). I'm a sucker for relentlessly practical fantasy stuff and Chitin hits just the right line between smooth and exotic. If I thought I was good enough to take a set of Chitin gear through the whole game I'd probably do it.

With enough enchants in barrier you can solo a game on cloth no cheats required only the vanilla game unmodified by OpenMW.
- Anonymous
Aren't the strength of enchants in Morrowind pretty dependent on the enchant value of the actual piece though? Chitin set has a total enchant value of 75 while extravagant clothes come in at 140 (both before israeliteelry). Granted, the armor value from the armor must offset that some, and I guess it's not impossible enchants are just that good. I didn't mess around with magic much when I was trying the game out.
I wonder if there's a mod for the missing Argonian and Khajit gear.

If you enchant something to summon a golden saint, soul trap and kill it, and have the largest soul gem with you, you can make a constant effect enchant on anything.
Barrier and reflect are absolutely broken if you have even 10% on multiple pieces that you wear at the same time, since they all stack. - Anonymous

It's a really good idea to go to Wolverine Hall, max out alchemy, get ancestor spirits to use them to recharge, and let Golden Saints die in lava puddles. Without Tribunal it's an egg hunt to find the big soulstones.

Your post reminds me that I have to grab the DLC delay mod when I start my playthrough back up. Got jumped by a Dark Brotherhood assassin at like level 3 and decided to just sell his gear since I was so early game I didn't want to just jump right to good light armor. Lucky for me he wasn't able to overcome my uncanny ability to poke him from slightly farther away with my spear (I'm continually mad they cut spears from Skyrim. Let me have my positioning gameplay you gays).

You do have to wonder what the frick you did to get their attention fresh off the boat. I mean, I know the Brotherhood will kill anyone they've got a contract for but someone paying primo coin for the player's level 2 ass has to raise some eyebrows somewhere.
Of course, then the guy they send to kill the anonymous fisherman who just arrived in Seyda Neen never returns and things start to get more interesting.

It makes more sense for helseth to hire mook assassins to kill a random peon spy just to frick with the emperor than some god destroyer really
they should have just made level 1 db members wear some sh*t armor and not have that dart, just a note or something and it would have been fine. There is a system where you can only get attacked so many times by db assassins, like if you stay level 1 a long time you'll see two attacks and that's it, so it's not that overwhelming.

Skyrim reintroduced Elves looking weird.
I believe the intention is to make Elves look instantly recognisable as distinct from human faces by making them look like bird aliens.I think beast races will just have increasingly realistic heads with appropriately textured bodies. Bethesda made all children in Skyrim and Fallout 4 have the exact same face, regardless of sex or race, just to save on disk space or something. So I don't think beast races will have different bodies ever again.

The only reason oblivion elves look like that is because they were too ambitious with the character creator and probably ended up being way harder to develop than they thought at first. The character creator has a lot of "dept" but it is clearly unfinished. They probably realized very late in development stages that it was unsalvageable and decided to leave it as it is and concentrate on other matters. Then, they scrapped everything in fallout 3 because they knew it was just too hard to make. Fallout 3 character look much better, but that's because the character creator is really limited. You're not able to create atrocities anymore. Yet, in oblivion, you still could create a handsome main character if you knew how every slider worked.

I respect the hustle anon, but there's two Morrowind threads up right now and we probably don't have the numbers to keep things rolling to bump limit.
We'll try again when Morrowind gets adapted into a poorly thought out web series that sands off all the edges while badly misrepresenting existing factions in such a way as to bluntly push something only tangentially related to the game series. Seems to have worked for other Bethesda titles.
... actually a show set in Morrowind could be interesting. Someone would have to beat the sh*t out of the producers until they agreed to make it animated though.

The Talmud is israeli fables which got handed down orally for centuries after the Second Temple was destroyed for rejecting God. What a bunch of losers who'll see the USA dump them once their own Moshiach declares himself god in their soon to be built Third Temple.

Add some sixth-house armor mods and you're good to get Morrowind rid of outlander filth and fake gods.

Must I really?
From the moment I exit the first building in Seyda Neen, the extremely small village has character and life, and the coast with the trippy mushrooms and trees made me feel like I was in a magical, dreamy place. Then I went into 3rd person and saw the running animation and nearly pissed myself. This was in 2004. Then I bought some random bullsh*t from the Dark Elf merchant, and ran around killing sh*t. Who the frick thought that DnD-based combat for an Xbox game was a good idea? You swat at something 40 times and whatever your Major skill is at the time is almost arbitrary. There is no clear indication of how many points you must allot in Blunt, for example, in order to get better at Blunt weapon damage. There is no clear indication of how and when you level up. The act of hitting an enemy is extremely repetitive, and feels like an anxious race to out-spam your opponent (who inevitably always has a much higher hit-rate than your player character, stacking the early game in NPC favor). The cliff racers were annoying and grating as hell. These are just random gripes I have, and I know that every single one of those things is countered with a "get gud" comment, but it's not a fricking FromSoft game. At least in Dark Souls when you swing at something it fricking hits, and you don't have to level up specific Major and Minor skills where you have to keep track of what affects what.

Well, I suppose in hindsight I didn't have the knowledge or wisdom to grasp DnD mechanics at the time. I understand DnD mechanics now, and I know that being a murderhobo is the worst way to play. I tried playing Morrowind again many times throughout my life, and it felt sort of depressing. It felt like I was trying to recapture the janky, trippy experience of playing it in my old childhood bedroom what feels like a century ago. Now that I know I can abuse alchemy and the locations of powerful weapons, I can cheese the sh*t out of the game. I know that if I put more effort into playing the game I could discover a lot more and do more quests and stuff like that. The problem is that the lore and the story are kind of hard to follow along. The books you read in-game allude to all sorts of gallantry and pomp and circ*mstance, but it's very rare that anything you read about in game is something you can actually witness. You're left to your imagination, it feels like. I will say that the voice acting and overall aesthetic are really good, it's just hard to get over how jank the graphics are. So many jagged edges and hideous brown hues.
I actually enjoy the combat more as a level 1 moron, once i start one shotting everything with perfect accuracy is when i ususally drop the game
At that point you've reached the destination and there is no more journey, essentially.
